Background and mission :

The group aims at developing its research activities at the cross-road for artificial intelligence and image understanding, with applications in the domain of health, in particular biomedical imaging: data and knowledge representation, reconciliation of uncertain, heterogeneous, inconsistent data, exploitation of domain knowledge to produce information of better quality, complete, patient
specific, and to enrich automatically knowledge models, optimized analysis exploiting knowledge and reasoning methods, etc.
The association of symbolic and structural methods on the one hand (graphs, semantic networks, ontologies, spatial logics) and of numerical methods on the other hand (learning, image analysis, computer vision) is therefore of prime importance, but still under-explored.

The applicant is expected to have competences and skills in the domain of image and artificial intelligence, including modeling, with a strong background in applied mathematics or computer sciences. The applicant should also show pedagogical skills and be able to teach in particular courses in machine learning and image processing. The candidate will also be encouraged to participate in new collaborative projects.

Required skills
PhD or equivalent
Outstanding academic record
Strong knowledge, at both theoretical and applicative levels, in one or several of the following domains:
– mathematical or computer science modeling for images,
– machine learning and artificial intelligence,
– biomedical imaging.

Experience in teaching if possible and pedagogical skills, ability to teach basic and advanced methods in machine learning, and applications in biomedical imaging.

Languages:
English
French, or willing to learn french on the long term.

Desired skills
• A post-doctoral or international experience, in an academic or industrial environment will be appreciated.

Other skills
• Team player, good social skills, able to develop international academic and industrial partnerships.
• Ability to attract grants and funding at national and European levels.
• Autonomous, self-motivated.

Structure :

Telecom ParisTech, a CS/EE school of Université Paris-Saclay, is hiring an Associate Professor in the domain of image modeling and understanding. The position will be located in the Image Processing and Understanding Group, within the Signal and Image Processing department of the Information Processing and Communication Laboratory (LTCI).
